500 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with moderate tan head. Aromas of slightly smokey roasted malts and dark milk chocolate. Flavors of dry roasted malts, ash, and nutty dark chocolate. Initial watery sensation with dry roasty finish. Nothing really special these days but quite good for the ABV and the original style

500ml bottle: BBE Mar 2018. Obtained from Beers of Europe and shared between three during a random tasting session at my house on 15th Sep 2017. A very pleasant Stout in all aspects, looked, smelled and tasted good. Deep and darkest black body, tanned head. Chocolate and coffee notes abound in both the aroma and taste: rich, smooth and slick body wise. An ideal and sensible last beer of the evening being only 4% ABV.

500ml bottle. Pours an opaque black with a medium, creamy, long lasting, brown head that laces nicely. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate and caramel. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, caramel, licorice, bitter coffee and a hint of smoke with a dry, tangy hop finish. Light to medium body with a creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. A nice stout for such a low ABV.

$5.49 500 ml bottle from Market Steer Wine Shop, Downtown. Pours BLACK with a giant, soft brown head. Luscious aroma of smoked peat, chocolates, coffee, earth, wood - this is amazing. Flavor is quote similar, yet not as strong. Smoked peat, light chocolate, coffee grounds. Slightly earthy, slightly woody. It doesn’t check in with that higher alcohol stout, but damn - if it did this would be a masterpiece.

Pours black with a muddy head. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee grounds, and is a touch vinous. It works and is very inviting. Taste is pleasantly bitter and quite dry, with roasted coffee, nuts, and smoke all present. The finish remains bitter, but also takes on a light sourness from the hops. Body is lighter than average for a stout, but I would not describe it as watery. A good stout, particularly if searching for a stout with a lower than average ABV.
