The German answer to the original English beer type; Pale Ale.

A smooth, hoppy brew but not too bitter and overwhelmingly overhopped as one might have tasted in recent craft beers.

Keg at Mercato Metrapolitano, Elephant and Castle. A geneuinely very solid hopfenweisse that I chose for the long run and it was extremely quaffable. Solid beer.

Keg at German Kraft, Mercato Metropolitano - Elephant & Castle, 04/06/19. Hazed orange amber with a big Mister Whippy meets Douglas Hurd off white cap ... looks the part! Nose is creamy malts, orange peel, grass, citric tinged straw. Taste comprises juicy citric peel, grass, melon, orange zest, mellow hops, airy malts, soft wheaten bread. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close splashed with juicy hop bitterness Decent refresher.

Keg at the brewery. Sweet floral aroma, banana that's got me thinking this could be the wrong beer. Thick cloudy medium amber. Thick shaving foam head. Light-medium bitter. Hops, herbs and a trace of malts. Lighter bodied than expected. Thin. Fizzy carbonation. Long dry finish. Although supposedly a German answer to a pale ale, would go with APA.

Keg at the brewery. It pours hazy deep. Golden with a thick white head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, creamy banana, oily, wet grass, damp, hay, over ripe stone fruits, light spice and hearty bread. The taste is rather bitter, chewy, green, grass, damp leaves, bit pithy, zesty, underlying sweetness, green chalky banana and spice with a drying and slightly spicy finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. A bit chewy, but not bad.

Keg at the brewery. Pours clearish gold with a frothy, white head. The nose holds wheat, lemon, grapefruit. Light sweet flavour with some bitter citrus rind, more wheat bread, zesty lemon. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with more grapefruit, wheat, lemon, pithy citrus in general, some doughy wheat. Not bad.
