This spontaneous fermented beer has been aged in Hungarian oak barrels and appears with a light amber color with almost no head.
The aroma is huge and very vinous. A clear impression of oxidized apples is the first thing that hits you, which made us think of heavy old fashioned British apple ciders. The aroma also reveals the wooden notes from the barrels along with some burned toffee and spices like Star anise.
It has a very heavy acidic profile at first, one that quickly slides into a smooth kind of sweetness. We taste green apples, carambola and very young green grapes. It has a certain lactic acidic touch and a creamy dry finish that lasts forever and bares the green impressions through.
Some mild creamy blue cheese on roasted rye bread would work great due to both the lactic and acidity impressions in this beer.

Bottle @ Van Moll Brewpub shared by Erwin Van Moll. Slightly unclear orange color, virtually no head. Aroma is pretty nice: lightly sourish, pretty fruity, a touch of sourish fruitpeel. Taste is lightly sour, actually just a slight sour fruity hint, not more than that, quite fruity, soft flavors sort of speak. Pretty dry finish. Well I certainly dig this. Very nice!

Cloudy and gold in the glass. Medium white head. It fades to a ring of bubbles within a minute or so. The aroma is deep and funky. Really, really nice. Big oak note, very pleasant. Lots of grapes and light stone fruit. White wine and cheese. Maybe a bit heavy on the sweaty, cheesy funk but I like it. Moderately tart, heavily leans toward lactic sourness. Lots more oak. Quite dry. Plenty more funk comes through with the same lightly sweet fruit. Round with mildly prickly carbonation which fades to smoothness quickly. Surprisingly good beer. Wonderful depth of flavor. I would like to see Mikkeller stick to this

Road soda! drank from the bottle which was a lovely green. Aroma of barnyard funk, musty cellar, citrus, cobwebs. Flavour is light sweet and over moderate acidic. Medium bodied with light carbonation. A really nice effort on the style by Mikkeller.

Bottle, 375ml corked. A hazy, dark golden beer topped by a small, off-white head. Lightly funky nose with citrus peel and a spiced touch. Woody hints and some cellar. Toffee hints. Light citrusy flavor, dry and slightly tart, with cellar, wood, green apples and a faint spiced hint. Some sugar too. Medium body. soft carbonation level. Lasting lemony finish with toffee and citrus notes. Quite nice, but not world class, too sweet and caramel-ish. 141018
