50cl bottle from Tesco, Hastings. Deep reddish chestnut with a tight beige head; aroma of chocolate malt; lightly bodied with sweet dark fruit flavours; then some chocolate and toffee and a warming finish. A pleasant porter, but rather sweet.

Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW. Pours a clear, ruby-brown with a vaguely tan head. Aroma has light to medium roast malts, with notes of blackberry jumping forth. Medium sweet flavor of mild roastiness, nice dark fruits. Medium bodied with fine, tingly carbonation. Decent finish, some sugar, fruits, roasty bitterness on the sides of the tongue. Not bad.

Malty, roasted taste with notes of dried fruit, raisins, prunes, dark bread, coffee and a generous coffee bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. Nice one.
