Mills Brewing patiently make complex and nostalgic beers with their house blend of yeast and bacteria. Here, we got together to use BOXCAR's house blend of yeasts to create another nostalgic style, a Best Bitter.

Fruit flavours from the yeast, toffee and honey sweetness, balanced with large amounts of Goldings hops.

Can from Elusive Brewery. Malty grainy aroma with a sour tang. Some cloudiness to the amber body. Creamy foamy off-white head. Light bitter. Sour edge gains prominence. Underlying caramel sweetness with spice. As I drink more it gets very jammy. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Average-fizzy carbonation. Dry astringent finish. A decent bitter.

Early contender for beer-of-the-year. A hoppier Timothy Taylor's. I love Simpson's Malt. Bready and biscuity. Grapefruit and mandarin. Soft and poised. Can drink it all night long. Wow. What a beer!

Keg at the Boxcar taproom. Pours unclear burnished gold-orange with a tight, creamy head. Not bad overall, lightly sweet, notes of sun-kissed grains, leafy bitterness. Light bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Finishes with more leafy hops, whole grains, a little grass and toast. Not bad.
