Small tan-mossy rim over dark cola-coloured beer. Bourbon, raisins, boerejongens , old wine, preserved cherries in alcohol. Dry, holly leaf, old wood, Bourbon, raisins, roosvicee, ending more sweet. Quite heavy & oily, dense, bit syrupy. Alcoholwarming. Aha. Here's a relatively recent De Molen that is in the best Menno Olivier tradition. Not that it helps its demise. Txs to Stef!

On tap at Arendsnest, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out fermented out honey and medium roast in good cohesion. Flavour reveals plenty of honey, plenty of fermented out honey, and medium roast. The honey doesn't seem all that well integrated. A bit rough and lacking integration and complexity. Disappointing, especially for De Molen.

23/IX/22 - on tap @ Borefts Day 1, BB: n/a (2022-1216) Thanks to all for sharing today’s beers!

Clear dark red purple beer, practically no head. Aroma: very intense, malty, good roast, lots of alcohol, caramel notes, a bit oxidized, port notes, sourish impression. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet, malty, very oxidized, soapy bitterness, chocolate touch, cocoa powder, meh, not very convincing. Aftertaste: very oxidized, all raisins, dried fruits, prunes and dates, more oxidation.

Tap. Black color with off-white head. Aroma is bourbon, a lot of bourbon juice. Taste is the same, a bit tart even, jammy. Thick oily mouthfeel with natural carbonation. Not exactly amazing.

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 7 May 2022) Black colour with brief beige head. Malty, roasted nose with sweet espresso, treacle, chocolate, oak wood, vanilla, bourbon and a touch of candy sugar. Malty, roasted taste with notes of sweet espresso, dark chocolate, treacle, dark honey, oak wood, bourbon, vanilla and a sweetish finish with a mild roasty bitterness. Full body, quite sweet. Sweet, rich and powerful. Hardly shy, but really tasty. Very nice.
