11/6/2020. Bottle courtesy of Silviu, the last of our trade beers from a while back and definitely saved the best ‘til last. Pours dark brown with a small creamy off-white head. Delicious aroma of dark and dried fruit, Jack Daniels, wood, malt, toffee, touch of yeast and slight marmite notes. Medium sweetness and light bitterness. Full bodied, carbonation started a little lively but calmed down nicely. Rich, warming fruit cake finish. Excellent!

Almost clear dark ruby, diminishing beige head. So yeah, there you have it - dark fruit, spicy alcohol, more than enough Bourbon vanilla goodness, light chocolate perhaps, some toasted bread maybe. It is not infinitely complex, but certainly got all it could from that JD barrell. The taste follows the aroma - some dark fruit, but otherwise not much complexity from the malts is left, pretty hot alcohol which works fine here, and finally a gentle kick back of Bourbon vanilla. The body is expectedly thin and easy to drink (especially, if you like harder alcohol). Solid.

Dried fruit, bananas, caramel, light wood, a bit of coconut. A bit harsh and heavy right now, but seems to have ageing potential. 3.7
