As you might know, we often cross the boundaries between beer and wine — and vice versa. In that sense, this wild ale is no exception.
We made a blend of several barrels of beer with different ages (1 up to 2 years old), which were macerated with different types of grapes — three in total: Olasz Rizling (white), Muscat (white), and a little bit of Kékfrankos (red). The concentration of fruit in this wild ale is high: 425 grams per litre.
In the aroma you’ll find floral notes like roses and elderflower, light strawberry notes from the addition of the red grapes, and a touch of spice and vanilla from the oak barrels. The scent might remind you of a natural wine: funkyness and apple skin. With the first sip you’ll notice the firm tannins this wild ale has. This is a result of the long maceration on wine grapes. Together with a high flavour density and solid acidity, Olasz offers a very wine-like drinking experience.
Note: when drinking it young, we recommend to decant the Olasz well, to open up the aroma — give it some time. This beer is suitable for several years of aging, to balance itself out, and let the tannins soften.

Another Tommie I was curious about, and with good reason it turns out. Lovely sourness, with a great amount of fruit. Refreshing acidity, bright, grapey, and some oak. Excellent balance. One of those beers you can keep drinking.

Near clear orange golden with white head. Intense grapes, this is in most senses more wine than beer. A sour malty fruitwine. Moderate sour. Medium body and soft carbonation.

Bottle shared. Almost clear light amber with small almost white head. Sherry, sweet grapes, fudge, sour grains, light funk, yoghurt, roasted pineapple, oak, cognac. Medium sweet and sour, light bitter. Solid medium bodied. Great.

Bottle thanks to Thomas. Slightly opaque peachy pink/red. Funky grapes, barnyard, touch of vingar. Highly vinous. Oak lingering.

Bottle. Color: Clear orangish / pinkish red, very fast disappearing white head. A lot of tiny carbonation bubbles going up in the glass. Aroma: Tart, wood, grapes. Taste: A lot of tannins, wood, over moderate tart, grape, grapeskin and grapeseed. Some tart apple skin. Light to moderate sweet, light bitterness. Some wheat malt in the background. Subtle notes of strawberry. Subtle funky wild yeast: wet dog, horse blanket and a little leathery. Vinuous. Medium body, just below average carbonation. On the edge of beer and wine. Quite a lot of tannins. Dry and astringent mouthfeel. After some rolling in the glass there is very little carbonation left but the flavours open up and are better balanced. Very nice.

Nice clear copper color. Fruity, sour, a bit acidic. Grapes, really like 50% wine. Some tannins, a bit sweet. Really nice.

Copperish metallic-red beer, utterly clear, sporting a kind of head for 1.5 seconds. Fruity nose, perfumey but natural, barnyard-lambic odours, shoepolish, and strangely, some phenols. Floral, roses, grapes, muscat, red/pink fruit. As well as some exotic fruit (persimmon?), strawberry, raspberry. The aftertaste is outspokenly vinous. Acidthinning, feels even thinner seen the alcohol (which is pretty hidden, btw). Hardly carbonated. Again a megasucces from Tommie Sjef.
