Cask at the Cornfield Garage JDW, Eastbourne. Poured a slightly hazy dark copper colour with an everlasting frothy off-white head. The aroma is malt, light toffee. The flavour is strong sweet, light bitter, with a smooth, sugary, toffee, earthy, aromatic, hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Struggled to finish this. Way too sweet for my liking.

Bottle from Morrison's Scarborough. Pours clear chestnut with beige foam. Malt, caramel, toffee, dried fruits. Light to moderate sweet & bitter. Medium body with soft carbonation. A little barleywine-esque, no bad thing!

Cask at Butlers Bell, Stafford (3/10/23). Pours a dark reddish-brown with a small off-white head. The aroma is a heady combination of malts, raisins and fruitcake. In the mouth it has malts, nuts, cake and parkin plus traces of cocoa and alcoholic strength. Later on some ginger and spices come through as well, leady to a spicy finish. This is a decent strong ale.

[August 2023] Chestnut brown with a frothy tan head and a fruit malt aroma. Sweet and malty, has like a rum or whisky hit up front, and a long dry finish
