Smell-weak malt, faint oddness in the smell. Foam- thin, weak hops, weak malt, a bit odd taste. Head is medium-sized, white with a brown tint. Appearance - simple brewer bottle cap, simple classic nice label. Clear ruby dark color, faint active carbonation. From - pint Taste - weak malt, weird sweetness, odd aftertaste. Sticky sweet-ish mix, that feels a bit like malt extract. Bad.

Bortimot svart med beige skum. Lukter og smaker av gamle gode vørterøl. Vørtersmaken gir seg litt etter litt og kjenner mer av brunt sukker, brød, sjokolade og røstet malt.

Bottle from Beers Of Europe. Pours a slightly hazy mahogany colour with a large thick creamy beige head. Aromas of dry dark fruits, caramel, toasty brown bread and tobacco. Taste is fruit cake, more caramel, brown bread and tobacco and also a hint of liquorice, syrup and brown sugar. Sweet finish but not overly so. Full body with a smooth oily mouthfeel. Nice one. One of the better Doppelbock i have tried.

Bottle from HoTM. It pours deep reddish - brown with a decent khaki head. The aroma is sweet, sticky, brown bread, dried fruits, spice, fruit cake, date, nutty, malt loaf, black bun, earth and burnt pie crust. The taste is initially dry, bitter - sweet, toothy, chewy, brown bread, malt loaf, sour almost, dried fruits, prune, date, fruit cake, juniper, spicy, kick of alcohol, earth, cacao nibs and damp wood with a drying, toothy finish. Medium-fulsome body and average carbonation. Never too sweet, which isn't common with this style. Well done.
