Cask. Chantry Inn, Handsworth, Sheffield. Clear, dark ruby red. Thick, creamy, lasting, beige head. Nose has coffee beans. Toasted nuts. Cocoa nibs. Hint of vanilla. Some ashy malts. Taste is dry, and fairly bitter. Lots of hop leaf in here. Medium body. Nicely smooth. Soft carbonation. Lingering roast malt bitterness to finish. Really good low ABV stout. Best cask beer in ages.

Cask at the Cutler’s Arms, Rotherham. Impenetrable black with a beige head. A bit of liquorice but otherwise the scent is muted. Dry bitter taste with a hint of berry sweetness share the stage with an odd plastic note. Slightly sour finish. Not bad, it grows on me... it almost tastes like a cask Guinness with added sweetness.

Cask-conditioned at the Lime Kiln, Bristol 24/5/2015. Near black with a decent, off-white, head. Plenty of chocolate, black currant sweetness, a hint of spice and toasty finish. An enjoyable stout.

Cask at Three Tuns Dronfield - Deep jet black to ruby body, thick white top - classic looking. Nose is burnt coal, coffee, nuts and dark chocolate. Taste is bitter at first, but soon smooths down with a chocolatey coffee-ness. Very nice indeed.
