Following the introduction of the bottom-fermented brewing process in the mid-19th century, a new beer type became popular and shaped the consumption habits of beer drinkers. The fresh, pale brew with its mildly hoppy flavour became one of the star products of its age. That is why Dortmunder style is considered a milestone in the development of beer culture in the world and became a synonym for superior quality. DAB Dortmunder Export is the finest example of the special bottom-fermented blond lager. It is a harmoniously balanced, crisp and easy-to-drink beer with pleasingly gentle notes of hops and malt. A very well-rounded taste profile with a soft and elegant texture.

(Can) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Malty nose with crisp-bread, grain, honey and citrus (lime). Malty taste with bread, honey, lime, herbs, hints of mixed fruit and a gentle grassy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Middle-of-the-roadish macro lager, but crisp and clean. Quite nice.

On tap pours out crisp clean straw topped with a white head. Nose is light grass hops and some cardboard malts. Taste is more of the light grass hops that old cardboard note and some grain.

Pint at The Anderson. It pours clear golden with a thick, fluffy, lasting white head. The aroma is classic lager, grassy, herbal, slightly sour almost, toasty grain, cereal and hay. The taste is crisp, dry, snappy, nippy, light bitter snap, toasty grains, grassy, damp herbal, touch of veg, slight creaminess, bread, slight green veg and a touch of sweetness with a dry finish. Average body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Not bad.

Can pour from Total Wine and More, Burlington. It's a crystal clear golden yellow with nice sparkle, finger-width white foamy head with excellent retention and nice lacing. Aroma is strong European and sweet malts, minerals/earth. Taste follows aroma with hint of sweet fruit. Mouthfeel is light side of light-to-medium bodied with smooth, frothy texture, soft carbonation and crisp finish as taste. Overall, hard to find a prettier beer--the Germans sure are good at that and decent mouthfeel! Aroma and taste have good strength and are true to style, albeit fairly boring to me.

16.9oz can. Reviewed in 2022. This used to be a decent beer decades ago. Any German beer that utilizes hop extract tends to get this gross plastic aroma...this one is quite bad. Really unenjoyable stuff. Malt liquor level of a beer, a really sad drop off.
