Together with Five Points from London we brewed a 100% pilsner malt and Scotch ale yeast fermented barley wine, giving us a clean classic with a twist. Then we aged it on freshly emptied bourbon barrels, through time-travel and hibernation elevating the beer to a whole other level. Omnimatopoetic!

In January of 2019 we added to our squad of brewers here at Dugges. Rebecca started working with us. Previously, Rebecca had been working at Five Points in London. So, that we would do a beer together with them at some point in the future was a given. In August of 2019 Rebecca traveled back to London for the London Craft Beer Festival and around that festival we got the chance to brew that beer with Five Points. Naturally, we had to do a re-brew at our place. And, this is that re-brew. Well, one version of it at least. We brewed this beer but we also did three other version of it. Here’s to friends in beer!

330ml bottle. Pours hazy dark orange with a small head. Aroma is sweet heavy bourbon and toffee. Taste has sweet bourbon to start with toffee and bourbon on the finish. Lingering bourbon aftertaste.

Bottle shared by B. Clear amber with white head. Caramel, vanilla, oak, dried fruit. Everything you want in a bw but it's all diluted. A bit of resinous bitterness. Nice and drinkable but slightly underwhelming.

Solid evening siper this one Clear amber pour and a fine head. Good lacing Looks nice and inviting Nice aroma with a fine intensity. Toffee, fruity and mellow barrel Balanced sweetness for a beer like this. Also a smooth fine carbonation level Dangerously easy to drink. Not to boozy either Toffee, dried fruits, vanilla and oak are the most prominent flavors [Bottle from Syetembolaget Nordstan in Göteborg, Sweden]

7th August 2021
Almost clear amber beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Light smooth palate, mildly dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Light malts, a decent creamy sweetness. Dried fruits, fairly bright. Mellow bourbon barrel with a decent helping of vanilla oak. Smooth finish. Good fun and pretty drinkable but lacks any proper barleywine depth, maturity or sophistication. The fast food of barleywines.
