Mexican Hot Chocolate Imperial Stout
We made a small batch version of this a while ago and many of you asked if we will brew this on a bigger scale. So we did! After fermentation Santa Muerte was aged on a big pile of cocoa nibs, madagascan vanilla beans and mexican smoked chipotle, ancho and passilla chillies.
A rich roasty body with a dark chocolate and creamy vanilla taste and a hint of subtle smokey spiciness to round it up.
Available as homebrew before official release in December 2020. In a few bottles for friends and on tap at a Tap-Takeover at Craft Beer Corner Cologne.

Bottle 0,33 ltr: Opaque black coloured brew with an dry bitter taste with hints of roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla, chilipeper and an touch of tequila.

Black with a beige, frothy head. Marshmallow aroma. Milk chocolate. Fudge. Full to medium bodied. Mild carbonation. Chewy. Mildly bitter with malty sweet undertones. Faint spice. Decent dessert beer.

Frothy lightbrown fair mostly diminishing head. Black colour. Heavy malty and light hoppy aroma. Moderate bitter flavor. Long moderate bitter finish. Not as chili spicy as feared. Creamy palate.

Blik gedeeld met Roelzie. Het is een pikzwart bier met een bruine schuimkraag. Het heeft een zoete gebrande moutige geur. De smaak is zoet, gedroogd fruit, caramel en hout.

440ml can. Opaque, darkest brown colour with average, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, beige head. Roasty, chocolately, dark malty and slightly spicy aroma, notes of cocoa, dark chocolate, some vanilla, chili, a minimally smoky touch of chipotle. Taste sweet-ish and roasty, chocolately dark malty, slightly spicy, notes of cocoa, dark chocolate, hints of chili, chipotle, treacle, a touch of vanilla, cinnamon; increasing peppery spiciness, well hidden alcohol. Slightly creamy texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying, simultaneously slightly dry palate, medium to fine, prickly carbonation. Spicy but still balanced, not overly complex - nice.
