The Hopus Primeur is a special edition of the regular Hopus made with five varieties of hops. For the Primeur hops are used with maximum freshness and moreover a sixth variety is added during the dry hopping, to give the aroma its own hallmark. Every year, since 2013, a different variety has been used, the best kept secret of the brewery.

Pale blond with lasting fluffy head. Crisp and fresh tasting. Dry hoppiness with some sweetness more commonly associated with a tripel.

Clear pale yellow beer, huge creamy to frothy white head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. aroma: barn yard, hay,s picy, little funky, sulphur, sewer ("putje"), yeast. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet start, yeast, some citrus, soft hop bitterness, toffee, fudge and caramel notes, malty, bit sticky even. Aftertaste: banana, yeast, marzipan, a sweet and sugary touch. Seriously guys, step it up please.

330 ml. bottle @ Gollem. Clear very sparkling golden with a huge white head. Nose is phenolic, lots of bitter citrus peel, lemon tea citrus, somewhat grainy,… Taste is boozy, phenolic, floral, lots of esters, lemon, quite boozy, eucalyptus & light mint bitter,… Carbonation is very high. A clear attempt at imitating Duvel Triple Hop & these guys are getting better and better at it every year. This is the best Hopus Primeur so far with 2015 having the worst Duvel Tripel Hop so far. The quality is more or less equal now.

Bottle. A hazy orange-golden beer with a dense, finger-thick off-white head. The aroma has some Belgian yeast, old damp cellar, some berry hints, a caramel note and some candy. It’s lightly alcoholic on the palate, full-bodied and pleasantly carbonated, but with an unpleasant, weird flavor I can’t really pin. Some cellar, quite a lot of fruityness, some pale malts and yeast. Lasting finish. Rather weird this one, although sort of nice when I had some sips. 150328

Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt, wheat, banana, caramel, and some spices. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long warm, malty, spiced finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
