Can from Systembolaget Hansa drunk at home 19/05/2025 A style I love but hard to find this delivers a nice sweet toffee and caramel malty backbone interlaced with resinous sticky hops, pine needles and spiced citrus marmalade shred, warming malty and hoppy into the close. Lovely. Going by the much earlier reviews below they must of improved the recipe this year as this is a winner. Recommended.

Can from Total Wine in Vacaville, CA. Pours clear ruddy amber/mahogany with a large foamy tan head. Large amber malt aroma. Med plus body. Flavor is strong amber malt with a huge number of other flavors. Pine for sure. Excellent flavor.

Deep ruby and pungent copper coloured body with a thinnish tan head of only a centimetre or so in height. Aroma of crisp metal, light hops, some resin, pine and a touch of grain with a good kick of alcohol and bitterness noticeable. Medium-bodied; Strong resinous and very piney bitterness with a deep grass and very herbal characteristics with a deep earthy bite, while still showing alcohol and grain - quite vividly - throughout. Aftertaste shows some earth, resin, grain and a punch of the alcohol without any sweetness or toffee notes - this is pure alcohol and bitterness. Overall, a mainly earthy and hop-based bitterness that shows a ton of unrefined grain and malty characteristics with a deep punch that does not let up at all and in fact is more pungent and bitter than when smelt or sampled initially. I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased from BeerTopia in Omaha, Nebraska on 27-June-2018 for US$4,99 sampled at home in Washington on 26-July-2018, less than a full month later, but sampled while still fresh, and obviously still quite harsh and pungent.

Pours deep orange tinged red into an English pint. White head with medium retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Dark overripe summer pit fruit aromas. Sweet hot caramel, French toast and bitter banana skin upfront turning to resin in the medium length finish.

Bottle/Fest. A- Malty, caramel, fruity. A- Copper color, hazy liquid, tan head. T- Malty, caramel. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, malty finish. O- Boring and not much going on. Caramel malts control the beer.

Sampled in Champaign 11.2012. Aroma and looks are identical to the roadblock. The deadhead is sweeter, more candyish and certainly more alcoholic. The roadblock is the nicer drink.

Sampled from the tap at the 2010 GTMW. Poured a near clear amber red with a near white head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma was extremely pine filled but still a bit of caramel and a hint of light fruit. Flavor was similar with extreme pine bitterness but mellows with a bit of caramel and fruit in the finish.
