Thanks to the two fermentations in the Brakspear ’Double Drop’ system, this highly aromatic and satisfying strong beer delivers its rich flavour with subtlety and balance.
Crystal, Black and Maris Otter pale malts provide the backbone of this outstanding rich beer. Hops are added three times to provide a good balance between bitterness and fragrance.
This is a triple hopped strong beer, packaged in individually numbered bottles.

Bottle from back of my cellar ! Must have been there for at least 5 years … Has an aroma of musty cobwebs, freshly baked bread and bubblegum. Pours a clear reddish amber with a very vigorous frothy beige head, which rapidly disappears completely. Fairly strongly carbonated. Malts to the fore in the taste, but underneath are some orange hops and strong black tea. Pear drop esters in the finish. Nice and drinkable, but not sure I would want another one straight away !

500ml bottle from a big supermarket somewhere. Pours deep amber with modest ivory head. Aroma is caramel & brown sugar. Taste is smooth, rich and slightly boozy with smooth, subtle sweet flavours and a tangy fruitcake finish. Expected more.

50cl bottle. Clear amber pour. Decent white head. Trying to figure out what the beer style is and failing. Not bitter. Stronger than an average English beer. Quite drinkable.

500ml bottle from Asda. Pours amber, light haze, thin white head. Aromas of marzipan, toffee, faint estery notes. Taste is sweet, with a mineral chalkiness. Marmalade. Sweet finish. Stronger, it would make a nice barley wine.

Brown and clear with thin, lacy head. Sweet aroma with dried fruits, especially raisins. Flavour is also sweet with some banana esters and caramel. Interesting but too sweet.
