Old rating from 04-11-14 - 500ml bottle from my UK trip. It pours dark amber with a white foamy head. Aromas & tastes of caramel, dark fruit, medicine, hints of spice & malt. Medium body. Smooth mildly bitter finish. Very enjoyable

Thanks Simon. Smooth mild malty beginning. Hints of grain, nice Ale characteristics. Soft with a light malty back. Slightly sweetish, round with a subtle bitterness.

Bottle online from The Hobsons Brewery. Pours a slightly hazy copper colour with a medium sized creamy off-white head. Aromas of caramel, dark fruits and toasty brown bread. Taste is more caramel and dark fruits with toasty burnt brown bread and peppery spice. An earthy hop lingers on the finish. Medium body, low carbonation and smooth slightly oily mouthfeel. Quite a nice beer.

Auburn with a thin, creamy head. Aroma of wet oak, dates, spices—mostly pepper, butterscotch. Taste is mildly bitter, crisp, with a herbal note and some mild caramel sweetness underneath. Medium bodied, mild carbonation. Not bad.

Bottle from Asda, BBE in 12 months. Pours copper, large beige head. Chocolate, roasted malts, stone fruit aroma. Taste is malty with earthy hops, pepper, yeast and stone fruits. Quite smooth and low carbonation. I found this brew a bit too rich rather than moorish. However it certainly packs a punch.
