A real showcase of the fabulous Soracchi Ace hop, Acer is a 3.8% beer with a huge hop kick to it, ripe tangerines, resinous hops and a blast of citrus play around on a solid bready malt backbone... it surely can't only be 3.8% with that much flavour!

On cask at the Haymarket. Appearance - golden with a decent head. Nose - stewed apples. Light biscuit at the back. Taste - lemonade, apples and light caramel. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall - not as balanced as expected from a brewer of this standard.

Cask at the Henry Addington. It pours clear deep amber with a small off-white head. The nose is sweet, stinky sorachi, aniseed, herbal, menthol, grassy, sweet lemon candy and a touch of pink marshmallow. The taste is bitter - sweet, biscuit, grassy, herbal, aniserd, some bubblegum, sweet lemon with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Well enough made, just too much sorachi for my liking...

Bottle. Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Courtesy of Ruddy. Hazy light brown. Fruity, nutty, best bitter type of aroma. Some orange hop. Taste is light, pithy bitter. Some nutty sweet. Light, fairly crisp palate. Finishes light dry. Ok stuff. Drinks better than it smells.
