A real showcase of the fabulous Soracchi Ace hop, Acer is a 3.8% beer with a huge hop kick to it, ripe tangerines, resinous hops and a blast of citrus play around on a solid bready malt backbone... it surely can't only be 3.8% with that much flavour!

Bottle 500ml (AbM, BB 09/2014)
Clear golden-amber color, small off-white head, some lace. Nettles, gooseberry notes characteric to Sorachi Ace but a bit toned down - maybe better when really fresh bottle. Light bodied but ok palate for this ABV, Citrus and gooseberry in the flavor, light notes of strawberry. Lingering bitterness in the aftertaste. Decent bitter for being only 3.8% but probably could be even better from cask.

500ml bottle. Clear orangey dark golden colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Hoppy aroma is minimally piney, more strawy and grassy, malty basis with a honey and elderflower touch. Taste is minimally sweet malty, fruity hints of elderberries, gooseberry, dry overtones of fruit parings, grassy hop with a strawy touch. Cautious or even almost anaemic, but well balanced; not a striking beauty, but worth a second look.

(Cask at Euston Tap, Euston, London, 24 Apr 2013) Pale amber colour with foamy, off-white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with citrus, biscuits and leafy hops. Fruity, hoppy taste with notes of citrus, tea, tropical fruit, crisp malt and a generous grassy bitterness in a fairly dry finish. Light body, quite dry. Refreshing, tasty and highly drinkable. Nice one.

Bottle at home. Aroma is grassy , zesty lemon hint of earthy. Orange in colour with a slight haze and thin white head. Flavour is big on that signature sorachi ace hop cahracter, which i love. Firm piny bitter finish that lingers in the mouth. medium sweet. caramel malt somewhat balances the bitterness. This is a fantastic session beer packs a huge punch for 3.8%er. Great.
