Cider enriched with raspberries, blackberries and the rather unknown hybrid of the two, developed in Scotland in the seventies and called tayberries. At the Antidoot tasting event held in the Open Huis Jan Yoens by Erwin, cheers! Waferthin, open, off-white ring of foam on a clear orange-hued 'old golden' robe. Aroma of ripe Durondeau pear (oddly but I guess the sweetness of the tayberries accentuates the apple), sweet cooked apples, honey, blackberry juice, raspberry-flavoured yoghurt, pineapple note, dry white wine, tomato sauce from a can (no doubt coming from the raspberries). Very juicy and evidently very fruity onset, lots of rounded sweet apple to even pear even though pears have not been used, further sweetness from really ripe blackberries and raspberries (and, I assume, tayberries) with online a soft edge of sourness; softish tingling carb, supple mouthfeel with this almost honeyish, yet completely non-sticky fruit sweetness continuing, balanced only very lightly by acidity - until the latter element does come up more strongly in the end, with tart, vinous effect. It seems as if the sweetness of the fruit had to be conquered by the sourness in a long battle - but in the end, the sourness has grown strong, though in a soft, 'malse' way. I am not the greatest cider lover and probably never will be, but this drink is beautiful and among the best in its category I had to date; the Rubus fruit species truly add a completely new layer of flavour to a rounded, well-structured apple underbuilt. Delicious.

Flaska från Antidoot. Flaskad 2020-04. Bra sprutt i kolsyran i flaskan, skjuter upp bottensatsen. Rostfärgad med liten vit krona. Något piggare syra och fräschör i arom och inledningen av smaken. Mjöliga äpplen, gyllene äppelskal, druvor, mycket ek, fin bärighet som är mer support än huvudroll, mineral, snäll kryddighet från fat. Något högre kolsyra. Utjäst, torr och rejält stram och mycket tanniner i avslutningen. Växer i glaset. En av de bättre ciderna från Antidoot.

Pours slightly hazed, Orange, with noticable pale background and red influence by the fruits. Foam obivously isnt stable. Scent is funky, dry, chewy apples, mild berry scent as well, all in a very subtile balance, but medium intense result by the combo. Taste is full, dry, apple, mild berry, appleskins ( tannins) , Very high carbo (too high to me, perhaps kept it a bit too long ) . Nice dry cider. Tad acidic. very natural and balanced. My personal preference is still more brett / tad sweeter ciders , but you can't argue with quality on this !
