Dark brown color. Pine combs with a touch of citrus in the nose. WOW. A mouth full of pine, christmas cake and jagermister. Overpowering? Yes, but never the less the finish is like sucking back a whole Norwiegn forest. Definetely not for the weak of heart

Dark reddish brown colour, Small tan head. Very spicy aroma. Ginger, clove, cinnamon. Spicy bitter flavour. Ginger, clove and cinnamon. The aftertaste is a little bitter and hints of the spices. A little strange beer but very drinkable.

Deep redish brown colour. Rich head. Spicy (ginger) aroma. Very spicy flavour but hops turns out to be the winner in the spice race.

Bottle, 2007 vintage. Well, it’s sure a beer I need to be in the mood for. The other day I had a bottle, but it wasn’t the right time, leaving me a bit unsatisfied. Today I really wanted it, and it left me with a much better feeling. The look is still the same, a dark brown body with a reddish hue, and a beige head on top. The aroma is the usual spiced one, maybe slightly more roasted and hoppy than earlier years. Tad mint as well. As with the two other Christmas beers from Nøgne Ø this year, I think they have another hop in the beer, at least a higher IBU. There’s still a roasted, coffeeish flavor and a good dash of Christmas spices. It has a long, roasted, spiced and hoppy finish. The hops leaves a citrusy touch, pine and some bitterness. Yes, it deserves my rating. (080104)

Bottled (2005 vintage) at Uptown. Dark reddish-brown with a dense tan head. Perfumed hoppy aroma with mint in the background. Flavor is much like aroma, with alcohol in the background. I see some of the Scandinavians refer to Glögg, and that is not a bad reference. It is quite spicy, Cough-medicine, cloves, cinnamon and other spices is recognized, and the beer is much more balanced than the 2004-vintage. Gingerbread, nuts and the traditonal Norwegian cookies goes well with it. Hoppy finish. (051103)

Bottled. Brown and red colour. Spicy notes of cinnamon and clove, along with other spices too. Very "glögg"-like aroma. Flavour of clove malt and a lot of spices. Christmas beer indeed. Very spicy aftertaste.

Dark brown, creamy tanned head. Spicey notes of cinnamon and clove. Roasted, chocolaty and spicey: cloves, ginger and what so ever Xmas flavors. Well-balanced and interesting.

Black color. Crazy aroma: sweet, spices (cinnamon, vanilla, cardamom), lemon peel. Spicy, malty flavor; caramel, Fernet Branca… An odd mix!

Bottled. Dark brown. Cinnamon aroma. Fairly dry with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Notes of oranges. Grassy finish with some licorice.

Little creamy, beige head; virtually black beer, opaque. Very herbal nose, mint and something conifer-like, nearly iodine, jumping out of the glass; cardemom and cloves. Bitter, but these are no hops, little dark malt, and loads of spices, making it, before anything, harsh-bitter spicey. Well bodied; long spicey aftertaste, nearly inkmushroom-like. This is shocking. I can well believe the set-off for "Julekraker" can be optimal, but short of these, this is a bit much. Way too much. Original it is, no doubt.
