You’ve struck Black Gold and you won’t be disappointed with this rich and smooth liquid. Not too bitter and just the right amount of sweetness.

A beer that lives up to its name, SIBA UK Supreme Overall Bottled Beer Champion for 2013!

This wholesome stout has a rich dark colour and nutty roast flavour. No less than four colours of malt make up the grist! A smooth sweetness leads to a dry finish and a satisfying after taste.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours near black with small beige to tanned head. Aroma is quite roasty with notes of dark dried fruits. Taste of roasted malts and liquorice with a lactose sweetness that's not overdone. Semi-drying and slick medium body. Good.

Roast and a little cream. Some bitter nut. Black pour with good mocha head and lacing. Bitter end. Tap at Macgregors in Inverness.

Dark, dark brown with a creamy, beige head. Best part is the aroma, robust and full of milk chocolate and licorice. Taste is roasted bitter with a touch too much lactose sweetness lingering on the tongue. Body is light, texture watery. Needs more heft. Drinkable.

Black with creamy head. Lots of roasted malts. Pleasantly sweet too from the lactose. Nice texture

Thin beige head on a still black body. Malt & liquorice aroma. Medium to thin bodied, smooth & clean. Malt, liquorice, sarsaparilla, nutty & sweet berry tastes with a tangy finish. Decent.

Bottle from Beersofeurope. Pours a pitch black colour with a medium to large sized thick creamy beige head. Aromas of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and hints of brown sugar. Taste is similar to the aroma with more of the same notes. Medium bodied, smooth slightly oily mouthfeel. Roasty, slightly bitter and ashy finish. Not bad.

50cl Bottle from the brewery. Black colour, beige head. Aroma of some roast, chocolate, cocoa. Flavour of coffee and cream, chocolate, cocoa, mild roast, nutty, bitter finish. Light bodied. Decent, but much preferred their Loch Ness stout.

500ml bottle. Pours black i guess, small foamy tan head. Light on the palette with very light dark malt, cola, distant lactic notes and some interesting, light smoky woody tobacco notes emerging alongside a dry finish. Carbonation seems a little firmer than necessary though not off-putting. Nice, light milk stout.
