You’ve struck Black Gold and you won’t be disappointed with this rich and smooth liquid. Not too bitter and just the right amount of sweetness.

A beer that lives up to its name, SIBA UK Supreme Overall Bottled Beer Champion for 2013!

This wholesome stout has a rich dark colour and nutty roast flavour. No less than four colours of malt make up the grist! A smooth sweetness leads to a dry finish and a satisfying after taste.

50 cl bottle @ Töysä. BBE 28.05.2014, rated on 06.07.2013
Aroma has British hops, toffee, some licorice and hints of smoke. Flavour has British hops too. Also toffee, somewhat salty licorice, coffee and hints of ash. The roasted notes are nice, the salty and British aromas are not.

A colablack colour, a head is medium and beige. The nose of chocolate, balanced roastiness and some bread, also hint of vegetables. Taste is balanced between roastiness and other nuancees, lactose, black coffee and some bitterness in the end. Almost medium bodied, low and small-bubbled carbonation, smooth to drink. Stout with lots of flavours. Balanced and not too burned.

Bottle shared with ClubGonzo. Has a black colour with a small beige head. Great roasted notes in the aroma along with nuts and some coffee. Nice and light. The taste is also good with roasted tones, nuts, coffee and dark wood. Mouth feel is smooth and silky, and has a light bitterness. A decent and nice well balanced stout.

Medium brown head. Nearly opaque black body shows clear dark brown at edges, with visible carbonation. Roasty earthy metallic aroma with mealy chocolatey notes. Dry-sweet earthy fruity roasty taste with chocolatey dusty notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish earthy roasty dusty aftertaste with wooden chocolatey bready notes. Really nice, and highly drinkable. Full of flavour, too. (0.5l bottle, Meny Strømmen Storsenter.)

0.5l bottle. This is a deep dark brown - near black one with a medium sized really bubbly light brown top. On the nose it's subtle, some faint smoke, roasted malts and fruits. Nothing extraordinary, but not bad in a way not so bad either. It opens up after a while in the glass. It's lively carbonated and the mouthfeel is quite thin. Soft roasted thin-coffee flavors. Some smoky hints, light sweet with bitter nuts in the finish. Ends with a really mouthdrying biscuit like aftertaste. Easy drinking, and absolutely nice enough for a non-extreme stout. 20.02.2013

Black, ruby edges, frothy bubbly tan head with some lacing
Aroma - soft roasted malts, dark sweet malts
Taste - Roasted malts, dark sweet malts, getting a touch of milk sugars, touch of chocolate
Palate - Medium carb and body, smooth palate. Finish as main flavour, a little dry with a touch of bitter charcoal in the finish
Overall - I should have rated this ages ago. I’ve had the cask many times and this is pretty good bottled stout but not a patch on the cask beer which is more flavoursome, creamy with a richer body. The pasteurisation knocks some of the magic out of this stout and it becomes plainer. Maybe the bottled version needs to be brewed at a higher abv.
