500 ml bottle into lager glass, best before 10/5/2013. Pours slightly cloudy golden straw color with a 1 finger fairly dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of bready grain, cracker, floral, pear, apple, light pepper, biscuit, and herbal earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance of light fruity esters with malt/hop notes; with good strength. Taste of bready grain, cracker, floral, pear, apple, light pepper, biscuit, and herbal earthiness. Lingering notes of bread, cracker, floral, light pepper, and herbal on the finish for a short bit. Good balance of malt/hop flavors with light-moderate fruitiness; and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth and fairly crisp mouthfeel that is nice; without feeling too thin. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very good dortmunder style. Very clean with good balance of flavors and minimal esters; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Pours a golden body with a white head. Didn’t get a ton of aroma. Not a lot of flavor either.

Blond color. The aroma is malt-sweetish, the flavor too, with reasonable bitterness. Nothing exciting, but drinkable.

May 2009: Really pleased when I found this beer on the holiday island of Skiathos, thought I’d found a gem, sadly it didn’t go down that well. 500ml can with 18 months life left, poured into two tumblers on the balcony of my Studio, what a view. I was expecting a lovely deep dark golden Dortmunder Export, I got a pale pilsner looking body with a good white head on top, pale even for a good Dort. No aroma, not even a hop or malt to be found. Dry and boring, weak hop and yeast flavours, but you have to rweally search for them. I thought it thin and watery for a 5.0% beer, it lacked something. Not enough body or depth. A poor Dort in all respects.

0.5l can. This is a clear pale golden beer with a medium sized white sidesticking head. Aroma is light grainy and malty with perhaps a tiny hint of caramel. Light oily mouthfeeling, average carbonation and medium to light-bodied. Tastes alright. There's some pale malts, thin and almost watery notes of caramel, even a little bit of banana and sweet corn in this one! Ends light bitter with some hints of alcohol in the aftertaste. Good enough.
