Can while watching football and making appetizers. Dark brown pour and finger of beige head that leaves us quickly. Nose is roast coffee and cocoa. Tastes of coffee, cocoa, licorice, hay, leather saddle and touch of floral. Smooth palate.

Pours mahogany-tinged deep brown into a tulip. Mocha head with good retention recedes leaving trailing spiders. Brown bread and cola aromas. Crisp yet thin with licorice and soy upfront turning to prune and toasted raisin brown bread in the sweet lasting finish.

Can, courtesy of mansquito. Pours black with a large foamy head that dissipates quickly. Chocolate, toast, light funk, rye bread, pumpernickel bagels, blackcurrant. Medium body. Fine.

Can from MrBarleywine, thanks for the hookup. Dark brown with hints of garnet on the edge and a creamy off white head that persists. Rich toasty bready caramel with earthy spice to counter.

Can from my father: pours black with nice creamy head. Aroma is toasted malt, little herbs and spice. Taste is lightly sweet, spicy finish followed by a light yeasty notes. Something about dark saisons evokes a very rustic quality, which I find refreshing. Good.

Lovely stuff. Got that fruity cola Dr Pepper malty thing going on. Good stuff. Slightly floral too.

On tap at The Ginger Man, NYC. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of dark malt, funk, yeast, spice. Taste follows nose, dark grains, tart. Interesting, but doesn't quite mesh.

Draught at Novare Res, 4/21/18.
Medium amber and clear, with a beige head showing moderately-strong retention.
Smells of soft chocolate, bready specialty malts and herbal hops. Lots of wheat character and somewhat yeasty with plentiful ester.
In the mouth it shows light, chocolatey roast with a vanilla interlude followed by a long cream of wheat finish. Spicy hops join in on the end giving it a wholesome, noble character. Dark malts aren't overdone and there's ample soft texture, sweet base malt and low specialty malt character as well as high attenuation and tight carbonation. Hops continue to build nicely adding mineral, sourdough and lush herbal layers. Lovely stuff, one of the better dark saisons I've had in a while.
