Old rating from 2014 - 355ml bottle, pours amber with a white creamy head. Aromas & tastes of orange, citrus, apricot, caramel, grass, pine & malt. Medium body. Slight bitter finish. Strange IPA as it's very on the heavy side. Still enjoyable though

This IPA needs more hops. It's a good Pale ale, but it's thin bodied to me. i'd like to have more maltiness, better body & color, and some hops in the aroma that stand out. Just because it doesn't use American hops doesn't mean it has to be wimpy. I've had Fuggles hopped IPA's that can take on the West Coast's best, but this isn't one of them.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) It’s the head that first springs to mind: it’s extreme. Not that it explodes out of the bottle when the cap is twisted, but when poured the head rises so high, that you have to wait a while to find the beer. Light brownish and pretty coarse in texture - the head, that is. Amber coloured and hazy with loads om impurities in the brew. Very hoppy from the Fuggles also adding loads of aroma. No a very refined IPA though. 3.1

Spotty beige head on a hazy amber coloured body. Malt & resinous aroma. Medium bodied, sharp & limp on the back. Malt, wet cardboard, grain & crackers tastes with a bitter finish. Poor.

Historical tick which I am adding as a rate so that I can see the impact it has on my stats. 500 Beers To Try Before You Die. Bottle from Tesco, Ashford, Middlesex or is it Surrey? Pissy stuff.

(Bottle, 0.5 l - BB 30.09.2020, from a Sainsbury's, 20191015) The beer poured deep golden and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had grass, sweetness and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were grass, sweetness, fruitiness, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 1/2/2016. Pours slightly hazy orange/amber color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of lemon zest, orange peel, wood, plum, pear, apple, light pepper, pine, honey, light caramel, toasted bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of earthy hops, fruity yeast, and bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon zest, orange peel, wood, plum, pear, apple, light pepper, pine, honey, light caramel, toasted bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Good amount of piney/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon/orange peel, wood, pepper, pine, plum, pear, apple, honey, toasted bread, and herbal/grassy hop earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity, robustness, and balance of earthy hops, fruity yeast, and bready malt flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness after the finish from bitterness. Some mild but acceptable levels of diacetyl present in the aromas and flavors. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately sticky, and lightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice English IPA style. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of earthy hops, fruity yeast, and bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. This was a bit fruitier than I’d prefer, but was not horribly off balance either. A nicely enjoyable offering.
