From the land of the Māori, sheep, and Flight of the Conchords also comes some of the world’s finest hops. These tropical and citrus fruit-forward hops share similar flavour and aroma characteristics with wine grapes grown in New Zealand. Usually considered too wild for many major brewers, these eccentric hops are some of the most sought after by craft breweries, and they’re featured in many of our favourite beers. When we finally got our hands on some of the varieties (Nelson Sauvin, Riwaka, and Motueka) a few months ago, we wanted to put them in a beer that would feature them in all their Kiwi glory. So we sprinkled these hops into a thick, juicy, double dry-hopped, double IPA brewed with loads of flaked oats to give you something to chew

500ml can bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Fluffy white tophead over a hazy yellow-golden body. Clingy lacing. Fresh hop fruity aromas of pineapple and citrus. Fine blended taste of citrus and pineapple on a backbone of grainy malts. Bittersweet ending. Well bodied. Likable. Sunday afternoon with horisontal testing of three neipa beers; one from Germany (Sudden Death), another one from Norway (Lervig) and the last from Ireland (Dot Brew). (Tromsø 18.10.2020).

0.5 l can from 'Craftbeerrockstars.de', canned in September 2020. Hazy, golden yellow with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, quite dank, fruity-resiny aroma of pine, marijuana, mango and sweat. Moderately sweet, rather dank, fruity-resiny and a little herbal taste of pine, mango, marijuana, sweat and some quince, followed by a medium long, moderately bitter, rather resiny, and a little herbal finish. Medium body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Nice NZ hops showcase NEIPA, not too thick or sweet and nicely dank. Good!

DIPA of 6.9% ? Anyway, as long as it tastes good, right ? Pours a hazy yellowblonde. Medium small white head. Scent is kiwi indeed (mildly so) , white grapes, subtile in it's kind of aroma's, but intense in the volume of those subtilities. Taste is full, grapefruit, stonefruit, kiwi, mango, white grapes, citrus. Very fruity. Fairly creamy body, medium carbo. Very nice, perhaps a bit to much on the stonefruity side to my palate.

8-3-7-4-15 Can, three weeks after canning. Pours hazy yellow, with a creamy head. Aroma is spicy hops with kiwis, litchi, gooseberries and apricots, as well as some citrus, oats and grassy minerals. Creamy body, with soft to average carbonation. Flavour is dank, spicy hops with over ripe apricots, musty fruit peel, kiwis and citrusy notes, as well as grass and leafy minerals. Dry finish.
