The vivid red hue and tart finish of Raspberry Ale comes from the use of massive amounts of whole raspberries. Intensely flavorful, Raspberry Ale focuses on the contribution of local agriculture and follows a Bell’s tradition of leaning towards using tart flavors to complement malty notes, rather than additional sweetness.

Bottle, pours clear pinkish red with a nice foamy head. Smells like raspberries but the first taste is quite disappointing. It initially comes across like any other mundane fruit beer. Its not sweet and its actually got too much processed beer coming forward, and that beer is not the best thing around. Other fruit fights were so much better than this. I don't think this rises to the occasion of a good bell beer. JMHO. Finishes with the taste of raspberry koolaid that somebody forgot to add sugar to the mix. Yea, this is a quite boring beer, not worthy of bell's name. I wonder if some other company made this fir them, just asking.

Pours a hazy pink with a very dense, lasting off white head. Aroma is mainly raspberries with some tartness. The raspberry, malty flavor has minimal tartness. It’s not bad but it’s rather underwhelming.

Bottle shared at the 17th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering, 1/28/12. Bottle 83 of 495, batch K10357. Pours a clear pink color with a thin tan head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of tart berries, earthy notes and dark caramel malts. The taste is earth, tart berries, caramel and stone fruits. Medium bodied. Nice beer.

Sample at Fourth Street Bar & Grill during the Bells Tap Takeover on 10/12/2011: Slightly cloudy red color with a minimal white head. Spotty lacing on the glass. Grainy malt and raspberry in the nose. Medium body with a mildly tart raspberry character and some sweet grainy malt behind it. The finish is short and fruity. Pretty average overall.

Bottle 148 of 495 thanks to womencantsail. Pours with a fluffy off-white head with a lightly hazed red body. Aroma of raspberry, sticky, sweet, a bit of wheat, seltzer. Flavors are extremely watery. Seltzer, wheat, raspberry and little else. Pretty clean too, no esters. A bit of a malic bite. Lively bubbles, dryish. A bit bland. Really seems like little more than raspberry and seltzer. Drinkable though.

sampled during the 2011 RBWG weekend on tap at AZWine pours pinkish red with a thin white head. This is fruity and effervescent without being overly sweet. Finishes dry with thin lingering berry notes.
