So, here we are again, we’ve brewed another Kveik IPA, this time utilising our results from the last brew and getting just as giddy for our latest release.

A slight alteration with the water profiling and a touch more bitterness makes for a silky yet robust palette: We kept in the Sabro hops – we really, really liked the way Sabro’s coconut traits curved the tart qualities and interacted with the farmhouse like character of the beer.

We’ve swapped out the El Dorado for Bru-1, known for its unmistakable boozy pineapple flavour. We then finished the beer with a sprinkle of Mosaic for just an ever so slight savoury spice to finish the beer with a crisp bitter note. It’s tasting ace now… and if our last Kveik IPA is anything to go by we can expect this one to develop and improve over the next couple of weeks!

Collaboration has always been key to us here at North. It has passed on an abundance of knowledge to us, we wouldn’t be here without it. This beer wouldn’t be here without Brian at Stillwater suggesting we try using Kviek yeast earlier this year! We’re dead excited about Kveik Yeast and how it can be utilised. We hope you enjoy drinking this beer as much as we’ve enjoyed brewing it, and as much as we’re going to enjoy drinking it!

In theorie kan ik nog winnen. Biertje is een beetje zurig, wel hoppig. Niet kapot van het zurige.

Can sourced from Kihoskh and shared at home (05/09/2020) - light hazy yellow with a white head. Fruity with notes of lemon, pineapple, sweet soft malty and yeasty, medium body and carbonation, notes of coconut into the fruity hoppy close. Tasty.

Can. Pours hazy yellow with thick initial head, dissipates quickly though. Aroma is tropical, somewhat funky (kveiky), almost reminiscent of a saison. Mango, maybe some peach and coconut, but this is not too heavy on the sabro. Medium body. Flavour is malty, medium sweet, funky, kveiky. A lot of funk for a kveik IPA! Quite smooth and creamy, mango, passion fruit, peach, grape. Interesting, tropical for sure, very funky from the Kveik, unexpectedly intense farmhouse notes, more than I am used to from Kveik IPAs, almost towards a saison. Nice, but not what I expected. Could use a bit more Sabro for me.
