Backlog November 2013. Deep amber, almost black body under a small beige head. Mild aroma of dark malt and chocolate. Taste is sweet, dark malt, chocolate and light bitterness. Not too sweet actually but a bit plain and straight forward. Medium body and average aftertaste.

Bottle from LCB, consumed 1 month past BBE. Pours black with consistent beige to tanned head. Taste is sweet, light roast, milky coffee, bread, mild hoppy and roast bitterness. Medium bodied, soft frothy to smooth mouthfeel. A little on the simple side but actually very well brewed and balanced.

330ml bottle as part of a delivery from House of Trembling Madness, York and drunk at home. Dark brown, bordering on black with a tiny ring of beige head. Sweet chocolatey aroma, Ovaltine, some light stone fruit. Taste is likewise sweet, with a like possety sourness. Bitter hop emerges closer to the finish. Average body for the ABV with carbonation on the soft side. It’s one of those beers that doesn’t overexcite but I’m surprised by the low rates as it’s a perfectly decent tipple.
More bitter than sweet. Not a great milk stout.

Draught at the brewery. Dark brown, almost black colour with beige creamy head. Aroma is vanilla creamy, bit of kahlua, milky coffee. Taste is much the same. Finish is a nice balance of sweet creaminess and coffee bitterness. Very smooth in the mouth, with a touch of oiliness. --- Beer merged from original tick of Lacto Sweet Stout on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:06 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 9 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8.
