In 2002, we introduced Stone Ruination IPA (and its imposing 100+ IBUs) as the first year-round West Coast double IPA on the planet. Then in 2012, in commemoration of its 10th anniversary, we introduced a new beer that would grow to be known as Stone RuinTen Triple IPA. Now, we’re bringing that back in all its over-the-top, cranked-to-11, maximum hoppy splendor, using every brewing technique in our arsenal to squeeze every last bit of magic out of a truly staggering amount of hops. It’s been 18 years of beautifully bitter evolution, and this stage dive into a mosh pit of hops is bigger and bitter-er than ever. Don’t call it a comeback.

I purchased this brew in a six pack of 12 oz cans earlier today at the only local bottle shop. The Stone IPAs have been appreciated previously, let us see what a triple does for me. Cooled off severely and I’m tipping into a New Belgium snifter. The approach is inviting, a semi-opaque dark gold, a stable skim of of off-white foam and steady effervescence. A fine, old-school nose of pine resin and grass. The taste? Even better. I’m glad I have five more of this one. A healthy, firm hit of hops, grapefruit, a bit of pineapple sweetness and strong bitterness throughout and lingering. I like the 10.8% wraparound heaviness. Best IPA I’ve had in a long time.

The aromas are caramel malt and slightly oxidized resin hops. Full flavored with plenty of bitterness and some sweet to balance along with decent carbonation. Slight medicinal finish full-bodied. Big beer.

Fuck yeah, Stone. True hop vitriol. A giant, pungent, oily slap to the face. Grapefruit, orange marmalade, and dank, caramel and toasted bread, piney, piney bitterness. Can't get Ruination 'round these parts anymore, so I'm stocking up on Ruined Again.
