A high fermentation beer, Jenlain Ambrée is one of the first specialty beers in France and is been brewed since 1922. It owes its success to its inimitable taste stronger than all fashions. Its copper color, its aromas of cooked fruit and caramel make it a beer widely recognized for tasting but also a perfect ally for cooking.

Bottle, 75cl corked. Pours an orange body, with a nice but diminishing, beige head. Nice lacings settles when drinking. The aroma has a nice balance between sweetish caramel and fruityness, and is far from intense. Some hoppy notes as well. The flavor is much the same, with a nice, crisp bitterness in the background, and it finishes with caramel and bitterness. There’s also a hint of cellar that follows you from the first deep sniff, until the last drop is swallowed. A bit sticky in the mouth maybe, with a nice fullness. This is one of those beers that are a bit hard to grade, maybe it deserves a bit higher grades compared to other beers, anyway, I like it. (071023)

75cl bottle. Amber colour, persistent head. Slightly sweet and very malty flavour with hints of roasted malt, slightly hoppy. Lovely hops.

Bottle (75cl): Clear, amber coloured, small persisting and lacing off-white layer; sweet, caramelly,dark-malty and fruity nose; soft, moderate sweet flavour with a very faint bitterness; medium bodied; sweet-malty, bit toasted-malty finish. not very complex, but quite nice.......

50 cL can. Pours with off-white head and orange colour. Aroma is malty and straw/hops. Creamy mouthfeel. Good soft/sweet caramel malty taste which goes into a soft bitterness. Ends slight sweet malty.

(Draught at Au Trappiste, Paris, 15 Oct) Golden yellow colour leaning towards amber, disappearing white head. Spicy, fruity nose with notes of yeast. Fruity taste with yeasty, spicy notes and a fairly hoppy finish. Some sweet notes of tropical fruit as well. Refreshing and tasty.

Labeled farmhouse ale. Pours deep amber into a tulip. Significant off-white head quickly subsides to hug rim. Caramel aromas. Creamy with sweet caramel front-to-back.

Bottle. Quite malty aroma, mildly sweetly citric. Clear grey/amber colour. Small creamy white head. The flavour is malty and a bit peppery. Creamy mouthfeel. Satisfying, satiating aftertaste. Not too exciting, but well-balanced.

Bottle. Rich ruby amber with a nice off-white head. Yeasty spicey aroma. Fruity (peach mostly), yeasty, spicy flavor. Lingering earthy spice. The fruitiness makes it very drinkable. Some sweetness to it.

Pour is a amber with a small white head. Aroma is a very sweet sugar with a bit of honey in there. Flavor is caramel and and malty with notes of cream. Finishes flat though and could use a more umph! Still a 750ml bottle only cost $2.99 so it is pretty good for the value.
