Bottled
Dark nut brown, small creamy off-white head. Smokey, roasted, chocolaty nose. Roasted, a bit watery, chocolaty, not very brown ale -like, more like some of the Nögne Ö’s stouts.

Brown colour, ok head. The aroma is malt and chocolate. Dry malt flavour, a bit stale, too thin.

Bottle. Brown-red beer with dense, large, beige head. The yeast sediments gives it a hazy look, but it is no problem to pour it without the yeast if you like. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee/mocca and some floral notes. The taste has roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and a fruity hoppiness. The finish is as expected quite dry, and the bitterness stays for a while. My least favoured beer from Nøgne Ø, but a nice beer anyway. Goes well with walnuts and pickled silver-onions.(050912) (Rerated 060725)

(Bottle 50 cl) Very dark ruby red colour, clear and pretty indeed. Very small head and almost no carbonation - almost English cask appearance. Huge sediment though. A slight indefinable and not completely pleasant nose - roasted somehow. Very malty flavours, roasted malt - light sweetish, soft and pleasant mouthfeel. An incredibly flavourful beer for it’s rather small body. 110705

Clean dark amber color. Very nice aroma, with some malt, roasted malt and hop. The mouthfeel is quite dry, with roasted malt, malt and caramel, plus a touch of rye. Pretty good among the Brown Ales. Ends too dry and somehow minty.

Bottle. Fruity and slightly malty aroma. Dark chestnut colour. Quite roasted flavour, not sweet at all as I would expect from a brown ale. Aftertaste is bitter with some coffee flavour.

A deep red beer with a small light brown head. The aroma is sweet and slightly burnt. The flavor is of roasted malt, slightly burnt, but unfortunately the body is a little thin.

Chocolate and preserved oranges in the aroma. Brown, creamy head. Oranges, light chocolate, spice - good balance. lightih body

Reddish-brown colour. Very nutty aroma. Flavour is nutty, toasty, with some minerals. Relatively full body for the style.

Bottled. Mahogany colour, rich head. Roasty, fruity nose. Soft and rounded with lots of caramel. Salty, nutty and woody, well balanced. Medium bitterness. Restrained but still very flavourful. Imagine a Newcastle Brown, but fresher, maltier, richer and hoppier, and this is your beer...
