Ørbæk Black is a coal-black liquorice stout with a beautiful, light-brown head. Brewed with love, it is perfect for anyone who cannot keep their fingers off a bowl of liquorice all-sorts. Ørbæk Black is brewed using dark, rich types of malt, which lend the beer notes of freshly-toasted bread and liquorice all-sorts. It is a liquorice stout, to which we add chili to provide an extra touch of sharpness. It has a lovely aroma of the deep malt base with great chocolate, toffee and slightly smoky notes. The taste is rich and caramelised with a delicate bitterness from the roasted malt. You will also notice the scrumptious liquorice and sharp chili.

Bottle. Pours opaque black with large foamy beige head. Aroma is malt, cereal, straw, iron. Taste is light sweet, light bitter and faint acidic. Body is light oily with soft carbonation. Finish is a bit short but it had notes of malt, grain, metal and licorice. The licorice us very vague for a licorice stout, though! Be sure to pour the entire bottle into one glass, as a lot of the finish seems to settle at the bottom of the bottle.

bottle from kvickly spinderiet, shared with Gitte. dark brown, gray to offwhite head. aroma of roasted malts and licorice, also more licorice and caramel than rousted malts though. a bit weird. Flavor is licorice, chilies, mild roasted malts, mild hops. I feel a little chilli bite in this one, probably got chillies in it too. The stout part of the flavor is a bit weak.

Bottle shared with Deanso in Copenhagen. Opaque very dark brown to black color with a nice deep dark red glow coming through when held into the light. Medium to full sized tan head. Don’t get much aroma. Taste malts, dark malts, liquorice, lightly bitter. Smooth texture, medium body, soft carbonation that suits the beer. Nice stout.
