Bottled. An amber beer with a thin biege head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of malt and caramel as well as lighter notes of alcohol - a good caramel soup with light but distinct hop notes - NW hops. Thanks fiulijn for sharing.

Bottle at home ... Thanks to TimE for this one ... copper white creamy head ... sweet malty barley apples and vanilla nose ...again apples and quite a large amount of vanilla(too much that seems to build as it sits out)... light alcohol background ... light pepperyness... slightly oily

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of fiulijn. Slightly hazy orangey brown with a rough off-white head. Fat aroma of overripe fruit and burned caramel. Quite full-bodied with fat notes of malt and burned caramel and a bitter, hoppy finish. A little unrefined but still very decent. 100908

Dark brown color; the head, initially big, reduces quickly. There is a very light malt and caramel aroma, light almonds. It has a powerful body, with a thick and oily mouthfeel, with good malt flavor, caramel and nuts, bitter almonds; not extremely sweet. Later, it shows more nutty caramel and balanced bitterness. Very enjoyable, English style.

2008-07-28, draught at the brewery, 7-5-8-5-15=40
Beautiful amber color; creamy head. Good caramel aroma, sweet. Chewy and sweet malt and caramel flavor, with strong bitterness. A young Barley Wine, English in the front, American in the end; very good.

Deep brown with ruby red highlights. Powerful molasses, burnt sugar, deep, fresh fruit, caramel malts. Flavor parallels the aroma but with noticeable alcohol. The burnt sugar and molasses remain intense but with added figs, and some floral/fruits. A solid barley wine. I’d be curious to see how much the flavor mellows out over time.
