What began as mutual admiration between Sierra Nevada’s Grossman Family and Russian River’s Cilurzos has grown and progressed into genuine friendship. Brux began as an idea and has grown into something altogether different: The liquid manifestation of change over time.
Refermented in the bottle with Brettanomyces Bruxellensis, Brux will change and develop over time. Copper-colored, dry and complex, with slightly tart notes of green grass, pear, spice and lemon - this ale will progress in the bottle for many years.

Notes from 12/01/18 6th anniversary re-release. Bottle purchased from Mills River Brewery in July 2018. Mojito glass. Sudsy, cream-colored head. Cloudy, peach tea pour. Floral, cherry pit, sight vinegar & bitter herb nose. Taste is bitter booze, faintly fruity, thin, very leathery, cherry skin, aspirin. Lightly oxidized malt. Yes, it tastes like an old beer. What did you expect?

Bottle. Sierra Nevada UK online shop. I remember this shelf turding in the Sheffield Tap for absolutely ages. Think it was the most expensive beer on the menu. That was pre my RB days though so it’s nice to see this pop up. Pretty murky dirty pale brown colour. Decent off white head but definitely not a looker. Nose has old lemon. Old wood. Smells old. Taste has a pineapple sweetness. A bit leathery and a little bitter. Sticky mouthfeel. Fine carbonation. Dry and woody finish. Old.

750 mL bottle poured, shared by Tcon. Thanks! 4 years of age. A golden orange pour with a quick fading head. A mixture of different ripe fruit aroma, with a strong brett impression. Apple and brett headlined flavor, a ton of funk that lingers forever, and a covered up spice. An interesting beer. Strange. I like it.

750 ml bottle purchased at Julio’s way back when it was released in 2012. (Meant to pop this sooner) Got lost in the shuffle. Still plenty of carbonation, with a spirited pop of the cork. Crystal clear orange in color. Aroma is pale malt and very light "musty basement"... Weak fruit. Not much else.
The Brett is here for sure, mild fruit, weak grain, weak hay. Body is on the thin side. Lightly effervescent. In terms of how old this is, nothing is wrong with it. Nothing oxidized or off. But considering the two Brewers, I really was expecting much more after holding it all these years. Just ok.

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to The Peter. Pours clear yellow-gold with a creamy white head. The nose holds tangy lemon, lemon candies, dry grain. Light to medium sweet flavor with pale bread, some lemony tartness, hay. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Tart, lemony finish, lightly boozy, with a bit of sweat and faint apple. Very nice.
