Half Time out of New York provided me with a 16.9 oz can. The sampling will be in my Cowtown tulip glass, I lift the tab and pour. The body is dark brown followed by a creamy top of khaki tan foam. I smell grain and some roastiness. A drink now, not the fullness I expected but still all right. Scorched grain, pecans, field, malt and a touch of chocolate. Not bad.

Tap at the Dresdner Altmarkt Glüh-Hütte which advertises it heavily. Cola brown body, off-white head. Paler than many dunkels (that aren't from East Germany). Caramelly, simple aroma. Caramelly, simple, smooth taste, dare I say empty, vague cardboard, vague herbal hops, low bitterness. At least not as sweet as some local beers, but quite mediocre.

Pours almost black with a beige head. Malty aroma. Taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate notes, unidentified chemicals. Meh.

Can from Costco: pours dark brown with beige head. Cheap macro nose beneath some toast and dark chocolate. Taste is find. Lightly roasty and sort of bitter. Nothing special.

500ml can from the Costco German Biergarten Collection.
Pours dark mahogany with a medium sized beige head, good lacing. Toasted malts, nutty, coffee, mild chocolate sweetness.
Tasty

# 4717; 8/2025. Aroma of plum, liquorice, caramel, fig and light roasty and cardboard. Opaque dark brown body; lacing beige head. Fig, liquorice, caramel, grainy, cardboard slightly roasty and spicy; bittersweet finish. Lighter body; high carbonation. Modest Schwarzbier. 0,5 l, bottle, Getränkemarkt, Žitawa (Upper Lusatia, Germany).

"Eibauer Schwarzbier", Flasche von Getränke Hoffmann, Gallinchen (Cottbus), verkostet 10.6.2025 im Direktvergleich mit dem "Schwarzen Esel" aus Eisenach. - Tiefdunkles Kastanienrotbraun.

Aroma of malt, bread, grain, caramel, some roast. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet with a light bittersweet finish. Not impressed, too thin and weak.
