Bottle. Beautiful mostly lasting big head. Color is light golden. Aroma is fresh and fruity. Taste is a bit sour and acidic, but still good.

(bottle) Clear golden and effervescent hue with a stable foamy white/yellow medium head. Sweet malty aroma with fruits (peach, orange) and traces of alcohol and grass. Sweet flavour, medium body, lively carbonation. Initially strong malty taste with peach; yeasty and clove-spicy and slightly alcoholic.

Bottled. Yellow-orange beer with a nice white head. Aroma is sweet with some spicy notes. Sweet flavor of citrus and malt. Full body. The name probably sells more than the beer, but it is not bad. Rating: 5-4-6-3-14-3.2. 051210

Bottle. It’s a clear, golden beer topped by a dense, off-white head. Alcohol, white sugar and fruits on the nose and in the flavor, rather uninteresting both, but not bad. Medium to full body, warming, and with a pleasant bitterness in the end. I guess my palate has changed a bit since last rating, almost five years ago. It’ s still not a bad beer, but I’ll take a Duvel over this one anytime. Rating: 4-3-4-3-8-2.2. 100521

Bottle. It pours a slightly unclear golden body under a small, white head leaving some lacings. Fruity nose with some alcohol and yeast. Rather generic fruityness that is. Very carbonated, quite warming and a bit thin on the palate. Very alcoholic in the end. Fruit, sugar and some yeast in the flavor, decent bitterness to prevent it from going out of balance. Well, last time I rated it, it obviously didn’t do me any good. This time it’s better, but it’s still far from reacing Duvel’s levels, way too focused on the alcohol as it is. 101105

(Bottle 33 cl) Golden beer with a nice, creamy, white head of good rention. Yeasty and spicy with some sweet malt. Sweetish but not strongly alcoholic. Subdued bitterness. 270698

Orange, slightly hazy color, small white head, lace. Cardboard, wild yeast, fruits and alcohol in the nose. It is almost a bit lambic-like with cellary tones - maybe it is because of wheat malts used here. Palate is suprisingly watery and 8 % is not noticed here. But it means also that this is quite bland. Weak fruityness with apple and mango flavors. (7/3/5/2/10 2.7)

Bottled. A bit hazy golden/orange colour with enormous longlasting white bubbly/foamy head, lacing. Bitter fruitish aroma with spicy and caramelly hints. Also a sting of alcohol. Flavour is sweet caramel with hints of vanilla. It gets a bit bitter and alcoholic in finish, but aftertaste is sweet candy. Hides alcohol pretty well.

Undated bottle, probably 2004, at Julio’s Spring Beer Fest, 4/02/05. Pour is a light orange-rust-yellow, very light haze with a small, but lasting white head. Moderate lacing. Aroma of honey, clove, caramel, sugar, slight dirty earthiness/yeastiness. Not overly complex, yet not bad either, rather average Duvel style nose. Flavor is dry to start, but gains some candi sugar and light caramel sweetness. A hint of vanilla and light, dusty, hay-like hops bitterness, with some muddled yeastiness and a dirty, overly dry finish. Medium body, heavily carbonated, but not overdone on alcohol apparency.

Bottle Golden, clear body (lots of bubbles). Off-white, frothy head, fully lastng. Yeasty, lightly alcoholic body. Lightly bitter, lightly sweet flavour. Quite flat.

A hazy amber beer with a nice light brown head. The aroma is very yeasty and very spicy with hints of alcohol, peaches, and cinnamon. The flavor is very sweet - almost too sweet with notes of peach, cloves, as well as yeast on a background with hints of alcohol. The end is quite dry with the sweetness lingering together with warmth from the alcohol.

Well now here’s a funny beer. Labelled as a "gold" Belgian ale, and with a devilish name, I expected a strong phenolic Belgian golden ale ala Duvel. What a surprise then to get something that in a blind tasting I would readily peg as a pilsner. And as such its a decent one. Pours a bright clear gold with full foamy head, aroma is only slightly skunky (brown glass, best by date of 10/2005), otherwise grassy with some sweetish butter malts. Palate is initially moderately sweet and rounded, with a moderate hop finish, all like a south German pils. Very clean, no fermentation esters at all.
