In the hop fields we daydream and study, and at the brewery we tinker and test. For Field Study, dry-hopping delivers notes of ripe grapefruit, mango, pear and melon. Add a backbone of local rustic pale malt, and Field Study is just what we were after: a slightly hazy yet bright summer daydream come true.

Pours a clear straw from a can. Actually a little closer to a pils or something, not terribly hoppy, grassy. Maybe some faint citrus notes in the mouth. Okay beer.

12 ounce bottle from Guntown. Pours a hazy yellow hue with a small white head. Light lemon husky nose. Odd one. Funky almost sour cat piss, lemons, a bit of dusty malts. Finishes very dry. Not great.

Bottle as pictured. Hazy like lemonade. Big bitter initial impressions of unripened green citrus rind. Creamy foamy head. Smell is mild fruity hops. The flavor of this is so medicinal and overwhelming. Each slug is quite brutalizing. Big taste bud bone crushing experience. Almost seems volatile at times, like cleaning fluid. Difficult rude nasty; good thing there is some alky in this or it may be unbearable. Some co2 tries to smooth it out a bit, but fails on the finish. Like IPA? Better put this on yer bucket list.

Pours golden with a thick white head. Aroma of hoppy malt. Taste has citra hops and really excellent. Palate is hoppy and dry. Excellent, refreshing.

Very light golden coloured body with a tiny bit of haze and a super thin pure white head that is only a centimetre or so tall. Aroma of grass, lemons, pepper, pale malt with a dash of yeast on the end - strong, but very mild. Light to perhaps Medium-bodied; Strong dry quality shows through at first with a lemon, grapefruit and hay-like flavour that shows some very subtle sweetness from the hops with a pineapple and a light herbal character which is noticeable towards the end. Aftertaste shows some softer grass, dry oak with a fruity (apricots and plums) bite that has a pinch of bitterness, but even more dry and herbal characteristics come from this, especially at the end when the rest of flavours start quicker. Overall, a strong and very dry beer that shows some grass, herbs and oak, but not enough bitterness and real hop flavours to make this a 'real' IPA nor be a good beer for the style. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Giant in Alexandria, Virginia (Potomac Yard) on 17-July-2019 for US$1,99 sampled in my hotel room here in Columbia, Maryland on 22-July-2019. Po
