440ml can from Asda. Cola brown pour with brief fizz. Aroma of chocolate, light coffee, berries. Taste of chocolate malts, light nutty roast, Neapolitan ice cream sweetness. Slick body although a little light for 6%, moderate to high fizz. Average.

500ml bottle, bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Pours a firm, fawn-coloured head over a deep mahogany coloured body, fair lacing. Aromas of lightly roasted chocolate malts, promising. Nicely malt-driven mocha chocolate flavours added by a backdrop of black coffee. Roasted earthy chocolate to the ending. Rounded mouthfeel. Fine depth to it. Enjoyed for an hour on a Friday eve. 500ml bottle from Co-Op, cracked and poured into a pint sleeve at our holiday lodge in Louth after a 4-hour drive. Pours a dark brown, pale mocha cream head. Aroma is nicely chocolatey. Quite a pleasant chocolatey character to taste, very mild coffee, soft grain. Not a bad beer at all, medium to light bodied, drinks very well with just enough flavours shining through.

Many thanks to Simon! Smooth malty beginning. Very soft with creamy burned chocolate. Round creamy, grainy roasted chocolate. Moderate bitter, grainy fruity, burned chocolate in the aftertaste. Nice but not too intense chocolate with roasted beans in the finish.

Bottle at home. A strong aroma of coffee on opening the bottle and a nice head I the tankard. Very strong flavour of coffee and an intense sweet flavour of chocolate. I was surprised that this was a dark bitter and not a porter or stout, but there was no real flavour of beer and the whole thing wasn’t really integrated for my tastes. A worthy experiment, but not one I particularly enjoyed due to the sweetness.
