12 oz. bottle from Wegmans, Niagara Falls. Pours a clear gold color with an off white head and good retention. Decent lacing. Standard malt aroma. Clean and crisp classic pale malt flavor with a light bready finish. Medium body and medium carbonation. Not bitter. Really good lager. Definitely a German-style Oktoberfest beer.

Dark amber with a huge foamy head that lingered. Tangy and fruity with honey and bread undertones. Long finish. Medium body.

I guess I've never been up to ellicottville in the winter, eh? Icy winter cold bottle, near freezing. Yes, super ice cold on the palate, too; very nice. Somewhat wafting flowery perfumy olfactory effects. Less carbonation initially than most fest beers. However, it does develop some cutting co2 in there with big gulps. Taste has a small amount of unwanted hops, unlike civil refined old country festers, but it does not lose sight of what its 'spost to be. Settles down to some oktofest business in the middle. Near the end it tends to develop a slight astringent personality.

Crisp copper coloured body with a very thin off-white head that fades immediately and almost no movement at all - okay looking. Aroma of metal, a touch of malt and a few minor sugars - not much going on at all. Light-bodied; Metallic and slightly chewy malt note and a touch of citrus and some cleanser and just about nothing else. Aftertaste is pretty mild with some malt and a touch of alcohol. Overall, a pretty bland and uninspired beer with not much going on and not a great example of the style. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 18-November-2011 for US$2.55 sampled at home in Washington on 12-February-2012.
