Based on a German Kristallweizen style beer, but in a nod to its origins, Moa Blanc is brewed using renowned Sauvignon Blanc wine yeast. A blend of 50% wheat malt and 50% barley malt results in an elegantly smooth beer with hints of spice and uplifting esters.

330 ml bottle sampled April 2014. Clear pale golden with a small white head. Aroma like something between a bad industrial lager and moisten rubber gloves. Flavor is light pale malty, quite metallic and low bitterness. Medium to thin body. Practically undrinkable.

750ml bottle into pint glass. Champagne bottle with cork! Slight wheat aroma. Cloudy yellow with active but dissipating head. Spritzy mouthfeel leading to burnt malt finish with a little grape. It’s nice but for a wheat beer, so few fruit notes? Highly carbonated, maybe a champagne/beer hybrid?

Bottle. A more or less clear one, golden in color and with a small, white head. The aroma has some notes of hay, grass and pale wort, with a faint rubbery touch. Metal notes in the flavor, with a generic fruityness, hay, grass and some bitterness. Medium to thin body, plesant carbonation. Short fruity finish. Not much of a wheat beer this one, but it’s drinkable. 140418
