Hobsons Twisted Spire is a beer with all round appeal. It's a quenching low gravity beer with a nice bitterness in flavour and refreshing bursts of hop flavour which lingers through to a crisp dry finish.
Twisted Spire is brewed with Hersbruker, Fuggles and First Gold hop varieties and Maris Otter malting barley. The vibrant blond beer appeals to the palates of both the practised ale drinker and potential lager convert.
The beer's name was inspired by the curious and rare twisted spire church of St Mary the Virgin in the heart of Cleobury Mortimer, home to Hobsons.
Bottle notes - Twisted Spire is a carbonated beer, best served at 8°C .

Clear bottle thanks to mum for my birthday. A clear golden straw coloured pour with a short lived loose white head. Aroma is straw, hay. Apple esters, hedgerow hop, grass,, green fruit. Palate is, light, peppery, fine carbonation. Light chalk in the finish. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, agricultural grains, apple, straw, hay. Pretty clean, would be good in a beer garden in summer.

Cask at Three Fishes, Shrewsbury (at 3.6%). Pours lemon yellow with a medium sized foamy off-white head and good lacing. There’s malts and biscuits in the aroma. In the mouth it is quite sweet with just a little underlying sharpness. Flavour is malts and caramel with some hints of citrus and herbs and spices coming through later. This is reasonable.

Clear bottle from Melbicks Garden Centre, Coleshill. Clear light gold with brief white slightly fizzy top. No skunking on aroma. Has a typical English floral hop and light citrus note, only a touch fusty. Taste of orange and lemon rind, light breads, pepper. Decent building bitterness in the finish. Light and refreshing.

Cask at the Lamp Tavern, Birmingham on 29th December 2023. Crystal clear amber with white foam and plenty of lacing. A biscuit malt and sweet, tangy fruitiness from aroma through to finish. Medium bodied with an engaging texture.
