Hobsons Twisted Spire is a beer with all round appeal. It's a quenching low gravity beer with a nice bitterness in flavour and refreshing bursts of hop flavour which lingers through to a crisp dry finish.
Twisted Spire is brewed with Hersbruker, Fuggles and First Gold hop varieties and Maris Otter malting barley. The vibrant blond beer appeals to the palates of both the practised ale drinker and potential lager convert.
The beer's name was inspired by the curious and rare twisted spire church of St Mary the Virgin in the heart of Cleobury Mortimer, home to Hobsons.

50.cl bottle shared with jmgreenuk. Decent white head. Slightly hazy blond pour. Quite nice and refreshing .

50cl bottle from Tanner’s, Shrewsbury. Pours cloudy, amber to orange in colour with a nice head. The nose is of chocolate biscuits with grapes. The taste is of biscuits and apples. The palate is medium bodied with a creamy texture and a tangy finish. Overall a solid bitter.

Clear 500ml bottle, best before 25 Oct 2010, drank as my first beer on returning from Las Vegas (I needed a simple English beer to wind down with) 15 May 2010. Poured into my new Abbot Ale glass mug. Classed by the brewery as a ’Vibrant Blonde Ale’, I’ve slotted it into the English Pale Ale. Light blonde body with a large white head which soon fell away to a wisp and collar, looked fine, it would have been a bright golden blonde if the sun had been out. Wheat and hints of honey and summer gardens make up the aromas, pleasant more than powerful or pronounced. Refreshingly dry from the first sip, crisp and sharp. A citrus semi-sour aftertaste (pink grapefruit?) with a hop bitterness that overturns the floral/honey thoughts which the smell indicates towards. An ideal beer to bring me back to earth after all those American over hopped/over priced/over cooled beers I’ve had over the last two weeks. The 3.6% ABV didn’t take anything away from this well crafted ale, impressed.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 5/09/2011. Deep gold with a decent white head. Aroma of sweetish biscuit malts and grassy hops. Easy drinking, with some solid malts, touch of fruit and decent, bitter finish. An easy quaffer.

500ml bottle. Pours a very pale yellow with a large frothy head. Aroma is hoppy, very spicy, grass and some citrus. Taste is much the same, grass to start with a spicy finish then more grassy hops on the aftertaste. Nice level of carbonation.

Cask, handpump at The Firefly Bar, Lowesmoor, Worcester, 15-05-10 Pours gold with a soft white head. Some vanilla and then a light woodiness or even straw flavour ripples through with a curly bitterness to finish. Really liked this. A7 A4 F7 P4 Ov14 3.6

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 09, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England.Clear medium yellow orange color with a small to average, fizzy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, nutty, wood - tobaco. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090806]

Cask@GBBF 2009. Yellow color, small white head. Light lime peel aroma. Lime peel hoppy flavors in otherwise sweet malty flavor. Some late bitterness. Quite light beer.
