Ogre is considered as the flagship of Szent András Brewery, it offers a characteristic impression, rich in hops and Pilsen malt combined with a significant ABV rate. The Ogre was created at Marosvári „Ogre” László’s desire, who is for sure one of the greatest beer enthusiasts in our country and also he is the head of our brand pub named Ogre bácsi from the beginings. This pleasant Czech alike beer was a gap filler on the domestic market, thus it became popular rapidly.

0.5 bottle.
***
Nice yellow transparent color, very full-bodied, durable white head. Moderately carbonated. The big head stifles the aroma, which are very good, have a home beer scent. This was the first Hungarian Pilsner beer that I felt was really outstanding, a real pilsner. Perfect and truly Czech bitter taste, fresh ... highly recommended.

Bottle on the Railjet to Graz, 09/06/18. Pale golden blonde with a decent off white cap. Nose is sweet pale malts, grains, vanilla, popcorn. Taste comprises cereals, faint citric peel, sweet notes, light breads. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. So so.

On tap at Ogre Bacsi, pours a hazy yellow blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out straw, grassy hops, and biscuity malt. Flavour is very crisp, with grassy hops, biscuity malt and straw. Crisp and grassy. Nice and punchy, and well-made.

Blik 500cc van supermarkt, Budapest. Donkergeel bier met schuim. Smaak is licht bitter, licht zoet en kruidig met iets van vanille en kaneel. Eén van de betere bieren uit Hongarije tot nu toe.

Pale golden color, with a small white creamy head. Aroma is malty, straw, grassy hops but a bit weak. Taste is malty, with grassy hops notes.Dry finish, quite bitter. A bit too much the "grass" aftertaste, but all in all a nice pils.
