Keg at the Weather Station, Reading. Black with a beige to brown head. Sooty, maybe a bit cloying with definite wafer and chocolate. Good balance between sweet and bitter. Not sure it's making me think of stroopwafels, but it's quite nice. It's possible that I'd prefer a coffee and a stroopwafel though. I do like stroopwafels.

Slow gusher. There's an unwelcome tartness in aroma and taste at first. After a while this subsides a little. Elements of coffee come through well in the aroma. It is a bit watery. The background sourness keeps coming back. It's probably going off despite being 3 months within date.

Tap at Van Moll. Dark brown to black color, medium sized light brown colored head. Smell and taste malts, dark malts, a light sourish note unfortunately that reminds me of green coffee beans but could also be a slight infection. Too bad. Otherwise the coffee is pretty nice. Solid bitterness as well. Not gonna be too harsh.

Can thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - almost jet black and opaque. Nose - coffee bean and dark chocolate. Taste - dark chocolate and coffee again. Palate - close to medium bodied and creamy. Malt bitterness rather than hop but fine. Overall - fine if a little one dimensional.

Can from Beer52. Coffee and chocolate aroma with a porridgey edge. Dark. Cola tint. Thick foamy beige head. Light sour with a hint of bitterness - coffee and berries. The vanilla comes through adding sweetness. Light-medium bodied. Somewhat thin but buoyed by lively soft-fizzy carbonation. Slightly astringent finish. Pretty drinkable. Slips down.

[33cl can from Beer52.] An opaque peaty brown pour with a thin tan coloured head; aroma of chocolate syrup; quite lively in the mouth at first then developing an oily texture and tasting of chocolate syrup and artificial vanilla. A disappointing stout.
