500ml bottle @ home: poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard on 16 Oct 2012. Good, clear amber body: full off-white head that left some impressive lacing as the beer level fell away. The nose and taste both start off with malty and fruity notes: the hops coming into play a little later. Bitter towards the end of each sip as the spicy hops kick in, otherwise it is fairly fruity throughout: nicely balanced without going ’overboard’ in the flavour stakes. OK rather than ’woow’.

Bottle courtesy of Deanso. Golden brown pour with a thin broken head. Malty aroma and taste with a metallic aftertaste. Remarkably similar to Theakston’s Masham Glory. Uncannily similar in fact. Not my favourite, but ok to quench your thirst.

50cvl bottle shared with JmGreenUK. Thin white head. Malty aroma. Clear golden/amber pour. Nice enough but not very exciting.

A good looking beer, copper/light brown with good lacing. Nutty, malty aroma. There’s a nice malt character to this which was lacking a bit when I tried this on cask. It’s a bit more meaty.

Bottle from Morrisons, Banbury, Sun 12th August 2012 consumed 13th August 2012 around Carol & Haydns Pours amber good clarity with a white head, in the looks department it is very good. Sweet on the nose, some fruitiness, it is much like this in the mouth with toffee and a light bitterness and a good dash of boreingness thrown in for good measure. If this was half as good as the band I’d be impressed, but sadly it is drab. A5 A4 T5 P3 Ov9 2.6

50cl bottle from Morrisons. This doesn’t really paint my palate bright, but it’s OK. Golden amber with a thin white head; sour fruity aroma; thin with a caramel malt flavour; and a dry biscuity finish.

Cask, half pint, late night at the Castle Hotel. Clear, dark amber coloured body. Bright naked surface. Aroma is a mix of resin and bready malts. Leafy hops in flavour overlaid by malty sweetness leading to a dry bitter finish. Pleasing (Manchester, 06.07.2012).

Cask at Castle Hotel, Manchester 4.Jul.2012. Looked dark amber to me, but hard to tell as I was enjoying it late in the evening and the bar wasn’t well lit. The small dense head was easy to spot, though.Malty aroma with a hint of smoke and fruit. First the malty sweetness, then you taste what reminds of cherry and sunflower seeds. The carbonation gives it an interesting sting.
