A 2018 Kriek with fall raspberry and rhubarb.
Our first barrel aged kriek (2018) is blended with a kriek from 2019 that has been a year on barrel. This cherry lambic blend has subsequently been macerated with autumn raspberries. Here we have added a third type of acid (Oxalic acid) this comes from the rhubarb. Oxalic acid is present in large quantities in the leaves which we do not use, the rhubarb stem contains only a low dose of this acid. By combining 3 different varieties we were able to achieve a good result. This in addition to the fruit acids of the raspberries & cherries. The acids of the old lambic also provide a diversity of the acid pallet.
The blend is certainly not extremely acidic in terms of mouthfeel, you maybe should expect this from the explanation. This is partly due to the use of a soft lambic.
The name of this blend originated with the magician Raspoetin, who certainly experimented with oxalic acid in his time. Malina he meets is Russian for raspberry, which masks the danger with a seductive aroma.

Bottle from the source. Deep red with a brief, white head. Loads of red fruit upfront. Some green aroma from rhubarb. Light fruit acidity in taste. Some tart raspberries, rhubarb pie, a bit of wheat. Not too pronounced cherries but you can certainly get a sense they provide some texture. Very nicely drinkable!

Here the blend works perfectly! Lovely balance between and fruits (and grasses). Rhubarb is spot on and complements the blend perfectly. Balanced and highly drinkable acidity. Lovely stuff!
