A one-of-a-kind top-fermented beer, brewed with roasted malts and African palm nuts, based on an authentic recipe from Angola, South West Africa, thanks to Henrique Kabia. Traditionally drunk from a calabash, a type of gourd.

0,33L bottle, BB 06.15. Pours dark amber with very light tan head. The head stays for some time. Aroma is exotic fruits, fresh apple, malt, spices. Flavor is sweet, exotic fruits, malt, caramel, brown sugar, and some nuts. Finish is fruity dry bitter with hints of alcohol. Overall: nice brew, very pleasant surprise.

I expected nothing, but I was pleasantly surprised. This is actually a nice beer. Malty, spicey and even original.

Pours a clear amber color. The head is quite generous, sligtly off-shite with nice retention. The aroma is quite complex, surprisingly. There are the typical lager qualities of malt aroma, and also some nuts, slightly woody and grassy aroma, as well as some more yeast. The taste is a bit sweet and slightly sour, followed by a minimal bitterness. There’s some nuttiness in the back present. It has a dry feel, but otherwise drinkable and pleasant.

At first a rather lagerlike nose, followed by bread, floral, ginger, citrus, dough. Clear amber colour, frothy off-white head, tan foam. Taste medium sweet and slightly bitter, medium body, oily feel, average carbonation. Bittersweet finish, don’t know where the palmnut comes in, on the whole a decent beer and a lot less exotic than it sounds.

330 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 7%. Deep orange-brown colour, moderate white (or slightly off-white) head. Sickly sweetish and nutty aroma, not good at all. Fizzy mouthfeel. The flavour is unfresh, medium sweet, alcoholic and slightly sickly, nutty notes. Hardly any bitterness. Definitely not "my cup of tea"

Bottle bought at La Nucía. Dark amber almost brown colour with medium off-white head. Aroma has notes of toasted malts and caramel. Flavour is sweet, slightly alcoholic, notes of candy sugar are present. The final is sweet with a medium duration. Carbonation is medium. Body is medium to high.

33cl bottle in a coconut shell. Decent creamy white head. Better than the other mongizo beers.
